Wild Turkey Problem in Massachusetts
Wild turkeys were almost wiped out in New England in the early 1800s. Since then they've made such a comeback that some people will not leave their homes, and on occasion, police have shot aggressive birds.
But it's hard not to laugh at this encounter.
Many communities are reporting problems with having too many turkeys walking the streets of towns and cities in the United States.
As the story Birds gone wild: Resurgent turkeys spar with human neighbours in Canada's National Post illustrates, complaints range from turkeys slowing traffic to five occasions where police felt the need to shoot troublesome and aggressive birds as a matter of public safety.
Turkeys were once proposed as the U.S. national bird by Benjamin Franklin referring to them as a "Bird of Courage."
